Our Story

Taylan Designs was founded in 1994 by Richard Taylan, and was originally created as a sampling company for clothing production around the world.

Richard’s desire to build his own business within the clothing industry was inspired by his family – his father particularly who too, built his own business specialising in the production of ladies clothing. It is through his father’s successes that Richard learned specialist skills and knowledge within the creative industry, so much so, he landed himself an apprenticeship in 1975 with famous British brand ‘Burberry’ who had a factory in Hackney – where Richard finessed his skillset and experience.

Richard always had an eye and interest in costume production, always so curious who was behind the creation of them, so when he was contacted via recommendation to create costumes for the movie, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, he had the opportunity to become his own curiosity, and has for the past 20 years – never looked back.

Today... Taylan Designs stands proud, having worked on a huge selection of costumes for theatre, film and beyond. We strive to deliver the very best results for our clients – remaining flexible, professional and competitive always.
